Because of the shocking fact that currently in Punjab 69% of rural households do not have a Single Matriculate (basic level education) BUT 67% of rural households have at least one Drug Addict. The key word is ACCESS. Rural Families cannot afford to send their children to cities for schooling, and the urban areas are well served by private education facilities. So our goal is to cover all 12,778 villages of Punjab to provide a world-class, value-based education at their doorstep.

We believe in surrounding children with success from an early age. The earlier a child forms good habits the sooner those habits become good character, and the sooner good character enters the village the sooner the community begins to change for the better. We maintain a database of 1300 children awaiting sponsorship right now, and estimate a total of 250,000 children that need sponsoring throughout Punjab.

All our schools follow the National Curriculum of CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education). So subjects studied include a selection from: English, a chosen Indian language (including Punjabi), modern languages, biology, physics, chemistry, computer science, graphic design, history, political science, economics, sociology, philosophy, maths, business studies, engineering design, multimedia and web technology, fashion studies, fine art, dance, music, physical education, creative writing and translation studies, agriculture, heritage craft, mass media studies, entrepreneurship, information practices, social sciences.

Certainly! We would encourage you to do so. You can keep in touch by letter, email, telephone, Skype, or you can even visit in person the next time you’re in India. If you do wish to meet the child directly this will need arranging via the office and face-to-face procedure followed

This is where the UK government allows charities to claim back the basic rate of tax on all sponsorships made. So for every £100 sponsored, you are actually donating £125! All at no extra cost to you the sponsor.

That money is collected by Kalgidhar Trust UK, every penny of which is put into a sinking fund. This fund then steps in to pay to the continuation of a child’s education in the unfortunate event of their primary sponsor no longer being able to maintain their sponsorship commitment.

There is no limit. We find on average that each household sponsors between 2-3 children. One sponsor from Australia has sponsored over 1300 children!

We have robust and systems in place to track and segregate the education fund of each individual child. Transparency is the core ethos at Kalghidar Trust, so much so that all our Academies have dedicated Accounts and book-keeping functions and individual academy financial reports will be made available to you upon request

12 years, taking deprived children in at the kids in Nursery/Kindergarten stage and educating them through till their +2, XII standard stage (equivalent to GSCE level in the UK).

A child’s education starts from Nursery/Kindergarten, so approx. 3 years old.

Yes! Every 6 months you will receive a report on the academic progress of your sponsored child, together with a photograph.

The cost of Sponsorship is £324 GBP per year. A 3 year-old child would be in school for 12 years. That equates to a total outlay of £3,600 of the 12 years to transform the life of a deprived child. Please keep in mind that this figure may fluctuate according to the prevailing Rupee-GBP currency exchange rate.

Through our secure online Barclays payment gateway on this website. You can either setup an annual direct debit from our nominated current account, or setup an annual standing order charge from your credit or debit card.

Yes you will immediately receive a payment confirmation email, followed by a personal email from our UK office with details of you sponsored child and what happens next.

Completely. We use Barclays’ online payment gateway, which is a very reliable and trustworthy method of payment. You will immediately receive a payment confirmation email upon completing your online sponsorship.

We would like you to sponsor using direct debit to prevent this from occurring. However if you are sponsoring via a credit or debit card, then you’ll get an email informing you of the change and from within that email you will be invited to nominate alternative payment card details.

When you sponsor a child, the UK office collects the gift aid and this builds the emergency pot, or sinking fund, in case you decide to discontinue sponsorship. This ensures the child can continue the schooling they started through to the end.
