About The Kalgidhar Society

The Kalgidhar Society - Baru Sahib is a non-profit charitable organisation focussed on providing quality education to fight against the alarming rise in drugs and alcohol abuse. With equal stress on Healthcare, Women Empowerment and Social Welfare, the organisation has been instrumental in the socio-economic uplift of the poor in the far-flung rural areas of North India.

In India, the majority of the higher educational institutions are urban centric. As a result, the rural population is deprived of quality education. It is seen that the gross enrollment ratio is very poor in these rural areas. The situation is even worse for the female population in regard to gross enrollment ratio. So, it is an effort of The Kalgidhar Society to spread rural education.

In relation to the north, the education infrastructure in the south is already much more developed. The quality of education imparted in the south is quite good. Geographically, the masses in the south are well covered with the educational infrastructure. But in the north, especially hilly and rural areas, these parameters are poor and need urgent attention. The spread of drug malady in the north needs to be urgently addressed to keep the nation strong. The weak northern states would result in a weaker India, thus, threatening the sovereignty of the nation.
